Reversed Chakra’s New EP Includes a Very Special Version of “The Wild Boys”
As a fan of Duran Duran, and especially of “The Wild Boys,” I was genuinely curious to hear what Reversed Chakra had done with one of the wildest anthems of 1984. The surprise is significant: they didn’t try to replicate its original energy. Instead, they moved it into completely different territory.
Here, the track is reimagined as something darker and more tense, with an indie rock pulse that fits perfectly within their universe. The production by John Fryer — yes, the same producer behind key records by Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and HIM — adds that rough yet elegant edge that elevates this reinterpretation beyond a simple tribute.

Reversed Chakra is an international band based between Florence, Italy, and London, UK. Their sound moves between indie rock, darkwave, and subtle touches of post-rock. The current lineup consists of Carlo Bellotti (bass, producer), Alice Bianconcini (guitars), and Justin Brett (vocals), with contributions from Leo Martera on drums. They also collaborate regularly with respected figures from the international scene, further strengthening both their identity and production level.
The EP Rarefied works precisely as a play on contrasts: beauty and decay, risk and desire. Reversed Chakra speak about crossing that boundary, and listening to the record, it makes sense.
The band arrives with solid momentum. “Game of Chess” has surpassed 2.2 million streams, and together with “All The Way Down” and “Dust,” it has placed them firmly on the international radar. Rarefied expands that trajectory, supported by more ambitious production and a sonic palette that blends echoes of Interpol and Editors with emotional drama reminiscent of Placebo or The Cure. There is also a more expansive sensitivity that recalls Sigur Rós, without losing the identity of modern indie rock.

You can listen to the EP across major digital platforms.
