De/Vision Redux and Isaac Howlett in Barcelona

On February 21st, De/Vision returned to Barcelona with a special format: De/Vision Redux. This time, Steffen Keth shared the stage with Daniel Myer, known for his work in projects such as Covenant and Haujobb. The show was organized by Sturm Promotions and took place at Sala Wolf.

De/Vision Redux is not just a stripped-down set. It’s a reinterpretation. Instead of reproducing the classic versions of their well-known tracks, the band reshaped them, giving familiar songs a different atmosphere and structure.

We heard alternative takes on essential De/Vision tracks like “Try To Forget,” “Rage,” and “Time To Be Alive”. The arrangements felt more focused, sometimes more intimate, other times slightly darker in tone. The audience, already fully engaged from the beginning, responded with the kind of collective singing that only happens when songs have been part of people’s lives for decades.

Opening the night was Isaac Howlett, frontman of Empathy Test, who returned to Barcelona almost repeating last year’s formula, but this time performing solo. His set included his own material, such as “House Of Cards,” while also revisiting key moments from Empathy Test’s catalogue, including “Losing Touch,” a track that defined a wave of modern synthpop around a decade ago.

There was a clear sense of continuity between both performances. Isaac’s melodic and emotional approach connected naturally with the reinterpretative spirit of De/Vision Redux.

Overall, it was not about nostalgia. It was about revisiting songs from a different angle. A solid night in Barcelona for those who have followed De/Vision for years and for those discovering them in this more intimate format.
