Inferno Vol. 1 · From Hell To Disco

Review of Inferno Vol. 1, From Hell To Disco’s first compilation

The Barcelona-based label  From Hell To Disco, led by DJ Carmilla Sioux, presents Inferno Vol. 1, a vinyl and digital compilation focused on contemporary dark electronics and underground club culture.

We had the opportunity to listen to the album in advance, ahead of its release on March 19, and the impression is clear from the very beginning: a selection designed for the dancefloor, with a strong thread connecting EBM, industrial, darkwave and echoes of new beat.

Throughout the compilation, international artists share space with producers linked to the Spanish scene, creating a dialogue between different geographies and perspectives within contemporary industrial and EBM sounds.

The result is a coherent record with the character of a label compilation, yet varied enough to keep the listener engaged throughout.

The vinyl can already be pre-ordered via the label’s Bandcamp page:

The cover artwork is designed by Bizantina, reinforcing the dark visual identity that runs throughout the project.

The first Inferno Vol. 1 singles, by Nightcrawler with Newborn Ghost and Carmilla Sioux, can already be heard on Other Voices Radio.

Track by track

The compilation opens with Nghtly and “Welcome To The Timeless Era,” a very club-oriented track that quickly sets the tone of the record. Direct rhythm, clear structure and a foundation rooted in classic EBM patterns.

The second track comes from Asymetric80 with “Ashes On The Body.” It keeps the same rhythmic direction but adds more industrial layers and a texture closer to dark techno.

With “Nothing But Fear,” WLDV delivers one of the most forceful moments on the compilation. The track begins with a highly danceable base that gradually hardens into something more raw.

The fourth track, “L’âme se dilue” by Ottoman Grüw, returns to the continuous patterns of EBM. A relentless rhythm supports layers of sound that slowly build the ambience of the track.

Inferno Vol. 1

At the midpoint of the record appears Carmilla Sioux with “If You Dare, I Burn.” Here we enter more personal territory: distorted basslines that grow progressively, a powerful kick drum and sharp synths cutting through the mix.

The compilation’s first single arrives with Nightcrawler and Newborn Ghost on “Incubator.” It is the only vocal track on the record and stands out as one of its strongest moments. Nightcrawler is going through a particularly interesting creative phase and here joins one of the most recognizable voices in today’s darkwave landscape.

The following track, “Spirals” by Alpha Sect, could be considered the softest piece on the compilation. A more restrained beat, stronger synth presence and a slightly more open structure within the overall context of the record.

The closing track comes from Delectro with “Silent Suffering.” A powerful ending built around an insistent, almost hammering melody that at times recalls the horror atmospheres of Dario Argento’s cinema.

A label identity

Beyond the individual tracks, Inferno Vol. 1 works as a clear statement of intent for From Hell To Disco. A compilation designed for the club, with a recognizable sound and a firm curatorial direction.

A meeting point between dark electronics, the dancefloor and the underground scene.

The full release arrives on March 19. Until then, the door is already open through its first singles.
