This policy covers other-voices.com, the Other Voices mobile app, and the band management panel. Comments are disabled on this site and there’s no public user registration in WordPress, so neither of those collects any data from you.
The mobile app: no account needed
The app doesn’t require you to sign up, or give us your email or name, to listen to the radio, browse the band catalog, or read the magazine. To remember your likes, the artists you follow, and your notification preferences without asking you to log in, the app automatically generates a random identifier (device_id) the first time you open it, stored only on your own phone. This identifier:
- Doesn’t contain and isn’t derived from your name, email, phone number, or any personal data.
- Is not your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID) and isn’t linked to it.
- Never leaves your device except to save, alongside it, the actions described below.
- Disappears if you uninstall the app, and a new one is generated if you reinstall it.
What the app stores, and why
- Plays: which songs you listen to and from which part of the app, to calculate the most-played tracks and “The Darkroom” (reactions ranking).
- Reactions and follows: which tracks you react to and which bands you follow, so we can show you that information the next time you open the app.
- Clicks on external links: when you tap a Spotify, Bandcamp, or other platform link from a band’s profile, so we know which links are useful to artists.
- Notification preferences: whether you want to receive alerts about new releases or “on air” notifications, and the technical token Apple/Google use to deliver those notifications to you (only if you enable them).
- City and country (optional): if you manually enter your city in Settings, to show you nearby concerts. We never access your GPS location or request it automatically.
- Language: the language you choose (Spanish/English), to remember it next time.
The website (other-voices.com)
- Comments: disabled. We don’t collect comments or any data associated with them.
- User registration: there’s no public registration on the WordPress site. Only the Other Voices team has administrative access.
- Images: when we publish photos in articles, we try to strip location metadata (EXIF GPS) before uploading them.
- Embedded content: some articles and app screens (YouTube videos, Mixcloud or SoundCloud sessions) load content directly from those platforms. If you interact with that content, the privacy policy of the corresponding platform applies (YouTube/Google, Mixcloud, SoundCloud), not ours.
Band management panel
Bands that are part of the Other Voices catalog have a profile with details such as a contact email, bio, photo, and links to external platforms, managed internally by the Other Voices team (it’s not a public self-service panel). This data is shown publicly on the band’s profile within the app and website, since it’s part of their artist listing, except for the contact email, which stays internal.
Where everything is stored
App and band panel data is stored in Supabase (infrastructure hosted in the European Union). We don’t sell, rent, or share this information with third parties for advertising purposes. We don’t use any third-party analytics or advertising service (Google Analytics, pixels, etc.) in either the app or the panel.
Children’s privacy
Other Voices isn’t specifically directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from children under that age.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete any data we hold about you (as a band, or as a listener if you give us your device details) by writing to info@other-voices.com. As a listener, the simplest way to delete your local data is to uninstall the app: the device identifier and everything tied to it is lost, and a new one is generated if you reinstall.
Changes to this policy
If we change what data we collect or how we use it, we’ll update this page with the new date.
