Low Blows “SOS”, release of the new videoclip

Low Blows “SOS”, the track closest to The Cure on their self-titled album

Low Blows have released the video for “SOS”, the track we singled out in our review of the album for its direct debt to “Fascination Street”. The video, shot and directed by Carlos (vocals and bass), turns the song into images built around a story about life, loss and companionship.

Low Blows SOS

Carlos directing it himself isn’t a minor detail. In our review of Low Blows we noted that his voice found one of its best moments on “SOS”, carried start to finish by Andrés’s constant guitar line. The video goes for a dreamlike register that fits the lyric of “SOS”, which worked through abandonment and the cost of giving too much emotionally until it wears out whoever is carrying it.

The track featured on the remix EP that followed the album, in a version by doomzdei, and now gets this closing piece as the end of its cycle. With this video, Low Blows confirm that “SOS” is the song from their second album that holds up best outside the original tracklist.
