Larsovitch and Dramachine at Freedonia · April 9

Review of Larsovitch and Dramachine concert in Barcelona

Last Thursday, April 9, Freedonia hosted one of those nights that don’t make a lot of noise beforehand but end up being worth it. The event was brought by Barnadarkfest, bringing Larsovitch back to Barcelona for the second time.

We all know how hard it is to get people out on a Thursday, especially for this kind of show. Still, the turnout was more than decent. And more importantly, the people who showed up were fully into it.

Opening the night: Larsovitch

I’ll say it straight: I’m not usually a fan of one-man-band performances. Many times something feels missing on stage.

But Larsovitch made me rethink that a bit.

Theo has presence, and it shows from the start. The set is strong, direct, and moves between different styles without feeling forced. There are moments closer to post-punk, others leaning into coldwave, and even some industrial edges here and there.

The guitar plays a key role, but the use of the synth, even in small gestures, helps keep things dynamic.

And above all, the energy. In the voice, in the way he moves, in how he connects with the crowd. That’s what makes it work.

A really solid live.

Dramachine: rhythm and consistency

Then it was time for Dramachine, the Greek duo sharing this tour with Larsovitch.

Here the approach shifts. More coldsynth, more focused on the dancefloor. The sound can feel more linear at times, but it works within that space.

Songs in Greek, some new material in the set, and a clear direction throughout. No need to overcomplicate things, they know what they’re doing.

One of the highlights came at the end. For the last tracks, Larsovitch and Dramachine shared the stage, adding something extra to the final stretch.

That kind of moment always elevates the experience. It stops being just a set and becomes something shared.

It’s also worth mentioning that both the sound and lighting at Freedonia worked really well throughout the night. In a small venue like this, where everything feels closer, those details make a big difference.

Not the easiest day to fill a venue, but it worked. Good crowd, good energy, and two acts that fit well together.

One of those nights that happens quietly, but stays with you.

A proper dark night.
