Nightcrawler and Carmilla Sioux team up on System Lies, second preview of Uranium 235

System Lies is the second single of Uranium 235, Nightcrawler’s next album

System Lies is the second single from Uranium 235, the album Nightcrawler releases on 5 November. This time Carmilla Sioux joins him on a track that leans hard into EBM and gains a lot once you watch the official video.

System Lies

System Lies is textbook EBM in its rhythm: hard-set percussion over a constant, hammering bassline. The melodies come and go on top, but the feeling that something is about to break never leaves the track.

The song is about how the system (any system, really) manipulates information and hides the truth from the people. As usual, it was mixed and mastered at NC Sound Studio.

From Reactor 4 to the System Lies video

The official video, directed by Nightcrawler himself, is the filmed continuation of Reactor 4, the first single. It is a mini music video with an idea close to 1984. It is short. It feels too short, which is both its best and worst quality: it ends just as you have got hooked on the story, and it leaves you wanting more.

Watch the video before making up your mind about the track. Hearing System Lies on its own is one experience and seeing it with the images is quite another, with the full dystopia of control, deception and misinformation on screen. With two singles and two linked video pieces, the record presents itself as a project with a linear narrative.

Uranium 235: what to expect on 5 November

Uranium 235 arrives on 5 November on Nightcrawler Music, with cover design by George Gold Design. If the rest of the album keeps to the line System Lies sets, this will be a direct EBM record with a political argument and a carefully kept visual identity.

Carmilla Sioux and Spanish dark electro

The collaboration pairs two names with real weight in Spanish dark electro, and the meeting makes sense both on paper and in the result. Carmilla Sioux is also working elsewhere at the moment: she is exploring neo italo alongside Jessica Belomo in Villanelle, her new project. Hearing her on an EBM track this direct is a useful counterpoint to that other side.
